Grade Calculator (SACE)

This is a grade calculator for SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education). Enter your subjects, then select the appropriate grade and credits.

Stage 2 subjects — grades A+ to E−

Subject Grade Credits

Grades change live as you update them. Standard Stage 2 subject = 20 credits. You need at least 60 Stage 2 credits for SACE, 90 for ATAR eligibility.

Unscaled university aggregate Based on best 90 credits (unscaled)
Important: The university aggregate shown above is unscaled. SATAC applies subject scaling before calculating your actual university aggregate and ATAR. Subjects like Specialist Mathematics and Physics typically scale up; General Mathematics scales down. The actual ATAR conversion changes every year. This tool cannot predict your ATAR — use SATAC’s resources for ATAR guidance.

Grade numerics are used by SATAC for university aggregate calculations. SATAC then applies subject scaling (Equal Achievement Principle) so that more academically challenging subjects are scaled up and less challenging subjects are scaled down. This tool shows unscaled numeric averages. The university aggregate is out of 150 (A+ = 150) and calculated from best 90 credits. The ATAR conversion table changes each year. A+ with Merit is awarded to exceptional students and noted on the Record of Achievement; it does not change the numeric value of A+ (150).

Note: This calculator is for planning and estimation only. Grades shown are based on official SACE/SATAC numeric equivalents but the university aggregate and ATAR shown are unscaled. Actual ATAR calculation by SATAC involves subject scaling which significantly affects results. For official results, refer to SACE Board, SATAC, and Students Online.
