Note: For planning only. Official GPA on mySI-net. GPA = Σ(G × P) ÷ ΣP where G = grade (1–7), P = unit value. Grades 1, 2, and 3 are all failing and included in GPA. Non-graded P = 4, N = 0. W (withdrawal), T (credit), INC, IPR, SP, RW excluded. Check UQ Assessment Procedures Part H for full details.
A UQ GPA calculator helps students estimate their GPA on the 7-point scale. Three modes: GPA & CGPA Calculator, Current Course Mark, and GPA for Target. Note that all failing grades are included in GPA calculations.
UQ Grade Scale
| Grade | Band | Description | Mark Range | GP (2 units) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | HD | High Distinction | 85–100% | 14 |
| 6 | D | Distinction | 75–84% | 12 |
| 5 | Cr | Credit | 65–74% | 10 |
| 4 | P | Pass | 50–64% | 8 |
| 3 | — | Marginal Fail (supp. eligible) | 45–49% | 6 |
| 2 | — | Fail | 25–44% | 4 |
| 1 | — | Fail | 0–24% | 2 |
How the UQ GPA Calculator Works
GPA = Σ(G × P) ÷ Σ(P).
Official example from UQ: grades 4, 5, 5, 7 for courses worth 2, 2, 1, 1 units = (8+10+5+7) ÷ 6 = 30 ÷ 6 = 5.0.
GPA Calculation Example
| Course | Grade (G) | Units (P) | G × P |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 2 | 8 |
| 2 | 5 | 2 | 10 |
| 3 | 5 | 1 | 5 |
| 4 | 7 | 1 | 7 |
| Total | — | 6 | 30 |
Final Calculation
| Step | Calculation |
|---|---|
| Sum of (G × P) | 30 |
| Sum of Units (P) | 6 |
| GPA | 30 ÷ 6 = 5.0 |
